The "Fierce Tiger" katana is a 30 inch 1095 stone polished katana. Not quite an o-katana since it is smaller in blade width and thickness of the o-katana line, but a very long blade indeed. It was actually cut down about 1/2 of a inch shorter due to a fitting issue with the saya. The blade is extremely well balanced, calling it an “extension of the arm” is the best way to describe it.

The katana has a red and black saya which is the immediate eye catcher of this piece. The black is done in flat and glossy black lacquer in a speckled pattern, and the lower portion done in a deep red lacquer. This katana will come with a black sageo standard, but the customer can choose a premium black, red, or black and red speckled sageo for an extra $20.

The tsuka has a pair of iron Higo fuchi and kashira imported from Japan, and they were copper plated and blackened. The tsuba is on one side a copper tiger stalking, and the other side some bamboo stalks. A new set of brass seppa is also included. The tsuka is ever so slightly waisted, and the tsukamaki is done in a Japanese imported black silk katate-maki.

The menuki come standard with either a tiger with dragon like features (the tail, face, and paws resemble a tiger, but the slender body shape is like that of a dragon) or a set of bamboo menuki. Once chosen the menuki will be glued on.
